San Diego signs Eagles international Will Hooley

Will Hooley is heading for his first experience in Major League Rugby. The USA Eagles international has signed on with the San Diego Legion on a two-year deal through the 2023 season, having spent the last eight years playing professionally in English Premiership and most recently the RFU Championship.

Having represented England at u20 level, Hooley played two seasons each with Northampton and Exeter before moving to Championship club Bedford in 2017. He switched to Saracens when the pandemic forced the season to be postponed, and he was been with the London club since.

Hooley recently returned to test rugby for the first time since the 2019 World Cup, and now has 16 caps for the Eagles. The 27-year-old most often appears for the USA at fullback, but has primarily been a goal-kicking flyhalf in English club rugby. He is the first new player signed by the Legion for the 2022 season.
