San Diego re-signs Nathan Sylvia for 2022 season

The San Diego Legion have confirmed the re-signing of loosehead prop Nathan Sylvia for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. It will be his fifth campaign with the club, having joined part-way through the inaugural 2018 season from San Francisco Golden Gate.

Sylvia, 27, has been a regular with the club since arriving. He made the switch from tighthead to loosehead in 2019 and has split the No1 shirt with Faka’osi Pifeleti. Injuries depleted his impact somewhat in 2021 though Sylvia still managed to play 10 games including 4 starts. His total with the club is now 36 MLR caps, a mark bettered only by Pifeleti (39) and Jasa Veremalua (37).

San Diego have now confirmed three returning players along with hooker Peter Malcolm and flanker Chris Robshaw. The Legion also have a new Head Coach in former All Blacks scrumhalf Danny Lee, and three additions via the draft in Thomas Capriotti, Jonah Dietenberger, and Dominick Iacovino.
