Canada will have the same 30 players at their disposal for the World Cup Qualifying series against Chile as faced the USA earlier this month. Kingsley Jones has named an identical roster with no reinforcements called from Europe or the Canada Sevens squad.
The crucial series against the rapidly-improving Cóndores will see one nation advance to the Americas 2 series with the other eliminated from contention for Rugby World Cup 2023. This is the furthest the Chileans have ever advanced in the process. Canada has never failed to achieve qualification.
A heavy defeat in the second leg of Canada’s series against the USA resigned them to their showdown with the Chile. Los Cóndores have already named their traveling squad of 26 for the game, with all but one member playing professionally in Europe, MLR, or SLAR this past season.
Saturday’s first leg will take place at Starlight Stadium in Langford, previously known as Westhills Stadium. The second leg will be hosted by Chile at the Estadio Elías Figueroa in Valparaiso on October 9.
