Dallas taps former England coach Brian Ashton as consultant

The Dallas Jackals have enlisted former England coach Brian Ashton to act as a consultant for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. A teacher by trade, the 75-year-old has coached at the highest levels of the game for well over 30 years.

Ashton is best known for his time with Bath in the English Premiership and as Head Coach of first Ireland and then England. He notably led an embattled English side to the 2007 Rugby World Cup Final, ultimately won by South Africa. The following year he would shift away from full-time coaching to consulting.

In recent years Ashton has been involved with Premier League Football (soccer) and the International Rugby Academy of New Zealand (IRANZ). It remains to be seen who he will be consulting with the Jackals yet to reveal their Head Coach for their inaugural MLR campaign.
