Venues and Officials set for next round of World Cup Qualifiers

Venues for the next round of Americas region World Cup Qualifiers have now been set. The two series’ will determine which team takes the Americas 1 title and which two move on to the Americas 2 series, with the loser of Chile and Canada eliminated. Match dates are identical for both – October 2 and October 9.

The USA will host Uruguay in the first leg of the Americas 1 Decider at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado. Kickoff is set for 6pm local time (5pm Pacific, 8pm Eastern, 9pm Uruguay). Estadio Charrúa in Montevideo will be venue for the second leg the following Saturday at a time to be determined.

Canada starts their series against Chile in Langford, BC, at the renamed Starlight Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5pm local time (8pm Eastern, 9pm Chile). Valparaiso’s Estadio Elías Figueroa will host the second leg a week later at 3pm local time (11am Pacific, 2pm Eastern).

Also confirmed are the match officials for the first matches of each series. All four incoming referees come from Ireland. Frank Murphy has been assigned to USA vs Uruguay with Peter Martin his primary assistant. David Busby will take charge of Canada vs Chile with Sean Gallagher assisting.
