Nakai Penny signs three-year Seawolves extension

Nakai Penny has signed a three-year contract extension with the Seattle Seawolves. The new deal sees the Canadian international through the 2024 Major League Rugby season. He has appeared in each of the club’s four campaigns including a starting role in the 2019 Championship Final.

Having established himself as the first choice openside flanker, this past season was one of frustration for Penny. The 25-year-old appeared in each of the first three games but then suffered a serious upper body injury that ruled him out of the rest of the campaign.

Seattle now have secured 13 players for the 2022 season including 11 returnees and two newcomers in South African backs Dan Kriel and Juan Mostert. All are signed to multi-year contracts as the club looks to reshape itself following disappointing results in 2020 and 2021.
