Eagles prop Maya Learned signs for Gloucester-Hartpury

Maya Learned is the latest North American international to make the move across to England’s Premier 15s. The USA Eagles prop has signed on with Gloucester-Hartpury for the remainder of the season in the build-up to next year’s World Cup in New Zealand.

Learned, 25, was a High School and Junior All-American before earning Collegiate recognition while playing for Harvard. She made the jump to test rugby during the Can-Am Series in November 2019, coming off the bench in both matches. Capable on both sides of the scrum, Learned’s height of 5’11” (1.80m) has also seen her play in the second row for the Glendale Merlins.

There are now four Eagles front rowers in the UK with Charli Jacoby joining Loughborough and both Catie Benson and Nick James signing for Sale. Other USA forwards in the Premier 15s include second row Alycia Washington at Worcester and flanker pair Rachel Johnson and Kate Zackary at Exeter.
