Americas Rankings – September 19, 2021

The Americas Rankings is an exclusive on Americas Rugby News. The rankings compare the men’s test teams from throughout the Americas. Matches recognized as caps are used for the rankings. Teams yet to compete since the Americas Rankings began are listed with 30.00 points.

The test sides of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay all took to the field for international activity. Argentina faced New Zealand in the Rugby Championship on Saturday, Chile hosted the Argentina XV on Wednesday and Uruguay hosted the Argentina XV earlier today.

Of the three matches only the first counted towards the Americas Rankings. The reason for this is that the two other fixtures involved one rather than two test teams. Chile and Uruguay will next have rankings’ points on the line when they face Canada and the USA in their respective RWC 2023 qualifiers next month.

Argentina’s match against New Zealand took place in Brisbane, Australia. It, nonetheless, counted as a home match for Argentina. This meant that the points-change were done on the basis that the match was played, as intended, in Mendoza. The outcome is that Argentina lost 0.832 points. The updates rankings see Argentina now just 0.01 above Scotland in the World Rankings.

The rankings will be updated again following next weekend’s international competition. Argentina take on New Zealand in Brisbane, Australia on Saturday. It is to be a round four match of the Rugby Championship.
