The Dallas Jackals have announced the signing of fullback Chris Pennell from the Worcester Warriors. Capped one by England as a replacement against New Zealand in 2014, the 34-year-old brings over 200 games of first class rugby experience to the expansion side for the 2022 Major League Rugby season.
Pennell is a rarity in the professional game having played the entirety of his 14 year career with the same club. He made his English Premiership debut in 2007 having represented England u19s the year before. This past season Pennell made seven senior appearances to bring his club total to 253 games played, a mark bettered only by former teammate Craig Gillies.
Dallas have now confirmed four signings in addition to their five Collegiate Draft picks. Pennell follows lock Mike Matarazzo and flanker Bronson Teles to the Jackals, with prop Tayé Olagunju joining the development squad. The coaching staff for their first season has yet to be revealed.
