Arrows to host Rugby Rally match against Atlantic Selects

The Toronto Arrows will host a ‘Rugby Rally’ match against the Atlantic Selects at York Lions Stadium on Saturday, October 16. While will be an Arrows XV that takes the field absent several Canadian internationals, it marks the first game for the organization in Toronto since June 2, 2019.

Senior players not currently involved in the World Cup Qualifiers, such as front rowers Pat Lynott and Jack McRogers, are expected to play in the match along with a number of Major League Rugby hopefuls from the academy program. The Atlantic side will be comprised of players from Newfoundland, Québec, and the three Maritime provinces.

This will be the first Arrows match at the newly-renovated York Lions Stadium. The $8.2 million (CAD) project saw the installation of a new World Rugby-certified turf surface and the removal of the running track to allow stands to be closer to the field.

The Arrows have played one game previously at the facility, against the Glendale Raptors in August 2018 while still under the ‘Ontario’ banner. Their regular season matches have been played at the adjacent York Alumni Field and downtown’s Lamport Stadium.
