Sam Malcolm will make a full return to the Toronto Arrows for the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The flyhalf or fullback and prolific goal kicker is one of four re-signings announced by the club, who have now confirmed nine roster spots over the past week. Also back are hooker Jack McRogers, tighthead prop Marc-Antoine Ouellet, and flanker Ollie Nott.
This will be the fourth season for Malcolm with Toronto. He started 21 games for the club between the 2019 and 2020 seasons before moving to Japan to play for Kamaishi Seawaves. Soon to be celebrating his 26th birthday, the New Zealander arrived in time to play the final three games of the 2021 campaign.
McRogers made his professional debut in 2019 but did not make any appearances during the truncated 2020 season. The 22-year-old Canada u20 cap took a step up this past season, appearing in all 16 games including seven starts. Incumbent starter Andrew Quattrin and draft pick Sam Mace are the other specialist hookers at the club.
Ouellet, 26, joined the Arrows part-way through the season, making five appearances as a replacement. Nott is also 26 and has two test caps for Canada on his resume. Like Malcolm he played the last three games of the season, starting the final two on the side of the scrum.
