Reputable Argentina XV roster names to face Chile and Uruguay

The Argentina XV will face Chile and Uruguay in away matches this month. The players selected to play under Enrique Pichot will provide Los Cóndores and Los Teros will strong opposition. The matches are set to be played in Santiago on September 15 and in Montevideo on September 19.

Both Chile and Uruguay are preparing for their respective RWC 2023 qualifying matches. Canada completed an upset win on Saturday; the 34-21 win gives the Canadians a +13 lead over the USA. The winner of the series, on aggregate, will face Uruguay in the following round of the Americas’ RWC qualifiers. The winner of that two match series, on aggregate, will qualify for RWC 2023 as Americas 1.

The loser of Uruguay vs North America 1 will face the winner of Chile vs North America 2. The winner of the that two-match-series, on aggregate, will qualify for RWC 2023 as Americas 2. The upcoming matches against the Argentina XV will see both Chile and Uruguay battle-hardened.

The Argentina XV roster contains a mixture of established names, u20’s players and players to have impressed recently in the domestic High Performance centers.

The roster has no shortage of players from the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). Second-rowers Federico Gutiérrez, and Pedro Rubiolo, centers Juan Pablo Castro and Agustín Segura, fly half Martín Elías, and winger Tomás Cubilla all played for the unbeaten Los Jaguares XV this year.

The talking point, though, is arguably that of Bautista Pedemonte. The UAR contracted N8 has been sidelined for the better part of one year. He was injured while playing for the Argentina XV in the 2020 South American Championship. He made his Super Rugby debut for Los Jaguares in 2020.

Also back in the mix is Ignacio Calás. The second-rower was on Mario Ledesma’s roster for the 2020 Tri Nations in Australia. He is, nonetheless uncapped. He returned to Australia this year to play Super Rugby AU for the Melbourne Rebels.

The roster features Peñarol N9 Conrado Roura as well as Olímpia Lions’ names such as hooker Mariano Muntaner, fullback Martín Bogadoand flanker Jerónimo Gómez Vara. Gómez Vara is on the roster following the recent u20’s competition where he captained Los Pumitas against Georgia, South Africa, and Uruguay.
