Dallas Jackals sign Mike Matarazzo from Rugby ATL

The Dallas Jackals have announced their first player recruit outside of the Collegiate Draft for their inaugural campaign. Mike Matarazzo makes the move to the expansion side from Rugby ATL, with whom he made one appearance during the 2021 Major League Rugby season.

Selected in the first round by ATL in last year’s draft, Matarazzo captained the Notre Dame Fighting Irish where he was primarily seen as a ball-carrying eightman. With the Ratlers the 6’5″ (1.96m) athlete was used at lock, and it was in the No4 shirt where he debuted against the New England Free Jacks in the final round of the regular season.

Dallas now have six players including their five draft picks. First overall selection Eric Naposki, a fullback, was followed by prop DeCor Davis, winger Aaron Gray, Argentine flyhalf Alejandro Torres, and Collegiate All-American midfielder Calvin Gentry.
