Chile and Uruguay face Argentina XV as warm-ups for Canada and USA

Chile and Uruguay have secured home warm-up matches ahead of their upcoming RWC 2023 qualifiers. Both Chile and Uruguay will take-on the Argentina XV in September. The matches will be played in Santiago on Wednesday, September 15, and in Montevideo on Sunday, September 19.

For Uruguay the match will be the second against the Argentina XV this year. The teams met in early July with Uruguay completing a 42-26 victory. The match served Uruguay as preparation ahead of their RWC qualifiers against Chile and Brazil.

Both Chile and Uruguay are preparing for their respective matches against North American opposition. They await the outcome of the two-match-series between Canada and the USA. Canada completed an upset win on Saturday; the 34-21 win was Canada’s first victory over the USA since 2013.

Canada now has a +13 lead over the USA. The winner of the series, on aggregate, will face Uruguay in the following round of the Americas’ RWC qualifiers. The winner of that two match series, on aggregate, will qualify for RWC 2023 as Americas 1.

The loser of Uruguay vs North America 1 will face the winner of Chile vs North America 2. The winner of the that two-match-series, on aggregate, will qualify for RWC 2023 as Americas 2.
