Americas Rankings – September 04, 2021

The Americas Rankings is an exclusive on Americas Rugby News. The rankings compare the men’s test teams from throughout the Americas. Matches recognized as caps are used for the rankings. Teams yet to compete since the Americas Rankings began are listed with 30.00 points.

The current edition considers the result of today’s RWC 2023 qualifier in St. John’s, Canada. The home side pulled-off an upset to defeat the USA for the first time since 2013. The 34-21 result represents rises and falls and ramifications for Americas competitors beyond Canada and the USA.

For the USA the loss sees the Eagles falling from 68.10 to 66.70 points. This represents a fall to now be ranked below Uruguay. In other words, Uruguay overtake USA to now be at an all-time high of second in the Americas Rankings.

Canada rise from 61.11 to 62.51 points. The outcome does not see a change in position in the Americas Rankings; however, it sees Canada extending the gap between itself in 4th and Brazil in 5th. It does represent change in the World Rankings. Canada overtake Hong Kong in the overall World Rankings to move to 21st in the world.

The rankings will be updated again following the next weekend of international competition. The USA will be at home in Colorado against Canada. Argentina take on New Zealand in Gold Coast, Australia as part of the Rugby Championship.
