Toulon sign Mike Sosene-Feagai as medical joker

A second Old Glory DC front rower is stepping up to a Tier 1 competition. Mike Sosene-Feagai has signed a short-term deal to join Toulon in the Top 14. The US Eagles hooker arrives as a medical joker to cover for French international Christopher Tolofua, who is expected to be out until January with a knee injury.

Sosene-Feagai follows loosehead prop Jamie Dever to the top flight, the latter joining London Irish as short-term cover for absent Pumas prop Facundo Gigena. As with Dever, the contract with Toulon does not conclusively rule out a return to DC next season for Sosene-Feagai.

The 28-year-old’s form with Old Glory this season led to a start for the Eagles against England, his 6th test cap. In his two seasons of Major League Rugby, Sosene-Feagai has started 15 games for Old Glory. The third member of the first choice DC front row, tighthead Steven Longwell, is currently playing for Watsonians in Scotland’s Super 6 competition.
