Canadian lock Kaden Duguid heading to Fédérale 1

Promising Canadian lock Kaden Duguid has signed on with Peyrehorade in the French Fédérale 1. He is the third Duguid sibling – all second rows – to join a European club. Younger brother Tyler is on the books for Montpellier while older sister Abby plays for Loughborough Lightning in England.

Kaden is a product of the Nor’Westers club in Edmonton and represented the Prairie Wolf Pack age grade sides. Most recently Duguid was part of Canada’s centralized development side, the Pacific Pride. He toured Ireland with the Canada u19s in 2018. At 2.02m (6’7″) Kaden is slightly taller than Tyler but concedes several kilograms in weight.

Peyrehorade is located in the south-west of France, just 40km away from the rugby-rich Basque country that includes Pro D2 side Bayonne and Top 14 club Biarritz. Canadian World Cup lock Evan Olmstead plays for the latter. The Fédérale 1 season starts on September 4.
