Nikoloz Khatiashvili joins new Georgian pro team Black Lion

Houston SaberCats prop Nikoloz Khatiashvili has returned to his home country of Georgia to join their new professional side Black Lion. The newly created team will be competing in the Rugby Europe Super Cup along with entries from Israel, Russia, Belgium, Portugal, Spain, and the Netherlands.

Khatiashvili made 12 appearances for the SaberCats in his first Major League Rugby season. He split his time between the loosehead and tighthead prop positions and did so with equal effectiveness.

The 29-year-old’s form earned a recall to the Georgian team that played South Africa in July. Further caps eluded Khatiashvili with the cancellation of the second Springbok game and the test against Scotland.
