The Seattle Seawolves have secured two more front line players on long-term contracts. AJ Alatimu and Ross Neal have both signed three year extensions that will keep them in the Pacific Northwest through the end of the 2024 Major League Rugby season.
Alatimu arrived part-way through the season from Australia and made an immediate impact. Lining up primarily at flyhalf with one start at inside center, the 28-year-old Samoan international proved an accurate goal kicker and also captained the side while Riekert Hattingh was away on test duty.
Neal, 25, was frustrated by injury in his first campaign in 2020 but was a regular starter for Seattle this season. Also part of the leadership group, the 6’5″ (1.96m) powerhouse proved equally effective at outside center and wing and led the team with 8 tries, just two back of the league high.
Alatimu and Neal join Hattingh, James Malcolm, and Lauina Futi in committing their foreseeable futures with the Seawolves. It’s a positive trend as the two-time champions look to rebuild under the stewardship of new Head Coach Allen Clarke.
