Mauro Rebussone joins Colorno from Olímpia Lions

Mauro Rebussone will play in the Italian Top 10. The Argentine second-rower joins Colorno from the Olímpia Lions. The move sees him playing for a second foreign professional team in 2021. He played for Paraguay’s team in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) where he held down a starting position in the second-row.

The 28-year-old is the latest SLAR player to depart for Europe. He follows fellow Argentine Olímpia Lions. Fly half Maximo Ledesma has joined Lyons Piacenza, capped loose head prop Javier Diaz is on his way to Valorugby Emilia while fellow prop Lucas Favre and flanker Lucas Santa Cruz will continue their careers with El Salvador in Spain.

Additional SLAR movement has seen further Argentine players signing to continue their careers abroad. Fullback Facundo Ferrario has signed for Rovigo from Los Cafeteros Pro. His teammate Gonzalo García will also now be playing in Italy.

Jaguares XV loose head Federico Wegrzyn and hooker Martín Vaca has joined French Pro D2 clubs Provence and Narbonne, fly half Tomás Albornoz will play for Benetton, inside center Teo Castiglioni will play for Valorugby Emilia and N8 Joaquín Oviedo joins Perpignan while Tomás Bernasconi will play for Calvisano. Second-rower Santiago Portillo has left Selknam for Lyons Piacenza.

Mauro Rebussone is a product of Belgrano Athletic club in Buenos Aires. He is 1.93m tall and weights 118 kg. His regular position in SLAR was in the second-row.
