The player exodus continues. The latest Argentine player to move to Italy is scrum-half Gregorio Del Prete. He has signed for Colorno to play in the Italian Top 10, Italy’s domestic championship.

His move to Italy marks the second Argentine scrum-half recruited from South America by a Top 10 side for the new season. Gonzalo García will play for Valorugby Emilia. He captained Los Cafeteros Pro in the 2021 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR).

Gregorio Del Prete has one test cap for Argentina. He was Argentina’s replacement scrum-half in their 31-14 win over Uruguay in May 2015. He was joined by RWC 2015 players Santiago Cordero, Jerónimo de la Fuente, Santiago García Botta, Santiago González Iglesias, Facundo Isa, Martín Landajo, Pablo Matera, Julián Montoya, Javier Ortega Desio, and Guido Petti.

The 26-year-old is a product of Sporting in Mar del Plata. He went through Argentina’s High Performance program, for Los Jaguares XV in the Currie Cup and he played in Buenos Aires for San Luis. In addition to his one test cap he has played for Argentina u20s and for the Argentina XV.
