Wian Conradie to leave Free Jacks for Gloucester

Wian Conradie will depart the New England Free Jacks at the end of the season after signing on with English Premiership club Gloucester. The Namibian loose forward makes a return to England after one season in Major League Rugby having previously played with Doncaster in the RFU Championship.

A member of Namibia’s entry at Rugby World Cup 2019, Conradie initially signed with the Dallas Jackals but was left without a club following their decision to pull out of the 2021 MLR season. Since signing with with the Free Jacks he has been a instrumental member of the team, featuring largely in the No8 shirt.

Conradie is the latest MLR player claimed by a European club for next season. Bautista Ezcurra, Jason Robertson, and Psalm Wooching will all make the move to France. Ruben de Haas could find himself opposite Conradie in the Premiership as he is set to join Saracens.
