Montauban move for Canadian prospect Liam Bowman

Another young Canadian prospect is heading to France. 19-year-old midfielder Liam Bowman has signed an academy deal with Pro D2 side Montauban. The Oakville Crusaders product has most recently been training with the Pacific Pride national development side in Langford.

Bowman first picked up rugby at age 6 and has been a standout with Canada’s youth international sides, captaining the national u18s in 2019. He was set to make the jump to the u20s in 2020 but did not get the opportunity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 6’1″ (1.85m) centre follows fellow age-grade star Ciaran Breen to France, the latter signing for Carcassonne earlier this year. Other Canadians currently on academy deals are Montpellier lock Tyler Duguid, Brive No8 Logan Weidner, and Stade Français duo Quentin James and Will Percillier.
