Tomás Bernasconi departs Jaguares XV for Italy

Tomás Bernasconi will continue his professional career abroad. He is to leave Argentina for Italy. The move sees him departing Los Jaguares XV for Calvisano.

Bernasconi moves to Calvisano at the age of 21. He is a product to La Plata RC. Standing 1.93m and weighing 109kg Bernasconi is a natural fit for his regular position of N8. His ball-carrying was particularly noteworthy during the SLAR season.

He featured at both N8 and flanker for Los Jaguares XV in the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). He was a replacement in the final. His performances were that of a player of genuine promise; one that could receive an international call-up.

Bernasconi is the sixth Jaguares XV player to sign for a foreign club. Winger Sebastián Cancelliere has joined the Glasgow Warriors; fly half Tomás Albornoz will play for BenettonFederico Wegrzyn has joined Provence RugbyJoel Sclavi will play for La Rochelle; and Martín Vaca is on his way to Narbonne.

The Jaguares XV exodus is part of an overall Argentine SLAR exodus. Gonzalo García is also on his way to Italy while Lucas Favre and Lucas Santa Cruz have signed for Spanish club El Salvador. The list will continue to grow.
