World Rugby confirms pools for Tokyo Olympics

World Rugby has confirmed the pools for the Men’s and Women’s competitions at the Tokyo Olympics. The Men’s bracket will take place from July 26-28 with the Women following from July 29-31. All games will take place at Ajinomoto Stadium, which hosted eight games at Rugby World Cup 2019.

The three Americas entries in the Men’s draw are all in separate pools. Argentina will face defending World Sevens Series winners New Zealand, Canada are up against Rio Olympic winners Fiji, and the USA’s toughest opponent in the pool stage will be the Blitzboks.

There are also three Americas teams in the Women’s draw, with two sharing one pool. Canada and Brazil are both in Pool B along with France and Fiji. The USA are in Pool C which also features Rio champions Australia. Two-time defending Sevens Series winners New Zealand head up Pool A.
