Tuilagi out, Slade in as England names final test squad

One World Cup center has replaced another in the England squad for the tests against the USA on July 4 and Canada on July 10. Manu Tuilagi has been ruled out by injury but Henry Slade adds his 38 caps worth of experience as Eddie Jones makes his final roster cuts.

Four members of the Premiership-winning Harlequins squad are called up including former Blues midfielder Joe Marchant and uncapped trio Jack Kenningham, Alex Dombrandt, and Marcus Smith. The latter was the league’s top scorer this past year and is tipped as a potential long-term older of England’s No10 shirt.

Also called up is young Wasps hooker Gabriel Oghre, who takes the place of Bristol’s Will Capon. Bath flanker Miles Reid and Northampton winger Ollie Sleightholme drop out after being injured in training while Leicester’s George Martin is also left out of the 37-strong group.

The England ‘A’ fixture scheduled for this past weekend was cancelled following a cluster of COVID-19 cases within the Scotland ‘A’ camp.
