Lucas Santa Cruz signs for Silverstorm El Salvador

Lucas Santa Cruz will continue his professional career in Spain. The 27-year-old has signed for Silverstorm El Salvador. The move comes after Santa Cruz was a standout flanker in the 2021 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR). ARN named him in the All-Stars.

The move is a return to Spain; Santa Cruz played for Mazabi Santander in the 2016-2017 season. His performances were of note. He had 18 starts from 20 appearances and scored two tries.

Santa Cruz moved north from Spain to France for the 2017-2018 season. He joined CS Beaune to play in the Fédérale 2.  From there he returned to Argentina to play for his home club, Pucará. He subsequently was involved in the 2020 SLAR for os Ceibos and 2021 for the Olímpia Lions.

Santa Cruz’s natural position is flanker. He has played in the second-row too and can do so in both positions at a high level. He has played in both positions for the Argentina XV.
