The New England Free Jacks have announced a move to a new venue effective July 18 of this year. A multi-year agreement will see them leaving Union Point Stadium for Veterans Memorial Stadium in Quincy, located 10 miles closer to central Boston and easily accessible from the local subway line.
Though the facility itself has been in place since 1938, Veterans Memorial Stadium underwent significant renovations in 2018 that included upgraded change rooms, stadium seating, a new video board, and improved press box facilities. It served as home to the Boston Cannons, a professional lacrosse team, in 2020. The team now plays in rotating venues.
Like Union Point, the Stadium features a synthetic turf surface that is currently lined for football and lacrosse but the Free Jacks have indicated their intention to improve the on-field markings. The Free Jacks will play New York in Weymouth this coming Saturday before making the move for the final home game of the regular season against Rugby ATL.
