Andrew Durutalo to play in Varsity Match

Seattle Seawolves flanker and USA international Andrew Durutalo has been selected to play for Oxford University against Cambridge in the Varsity Match. Traditionally held in December, the prestigious contest returns on Sunday, July 4, after being cancelled last year due to the pandemic.

This year was meant to celebrate the centennial of the first game played at the national stadium at Twickenham but will instead move to Welford Road, the home of the Leicester Tigers. It’s the first time the game will not be at Twickenham since the second World War.

Durutalo began studying for a two-year Executive MBA program through Oxford’s Green Templeton College in January. He is the only Americas player set to take part in this year’s match. USA Selects cap Conor Kearns and Canadian international Dan Moor won ‘Blues’ in the 2017 edition.

Rugby United New York lock and current Eagles starter Nick Civetta is also currently enrolled at Oxford and had intended to play in the match, but will not have the opportunity this year as it conflicts with the international test window.
