Juan Pablo Socino signs for Leicester Tigers from Saracens

Juan Pablo Socino is back in the English Premiership. The 33-year-old has signed for the Leicester Tigers. He joins the Midlands club from Saracens. He helped Saracens win promotion back to the English Premiership this past weekend.

Socino played in the RFU Championship on a one-year deal. Prior to that he played in Spain’s División de Honor for El Salvador. His move to the Leicester Tigers will be his 8th European club. His professional career has included the Rotherham Titans and Nottingham in the RFU Championship; the Newcastle Falcons in the English Premiership; Dax in the PRO D2; El Salvador in Spain; and Edinburgh in the Pro 14.

Socino is a product of Los Matreros club in Buenos Aires. He went through Argentina’s age-grade system, earning international honors along the way. He made his test debut in 2015, earning selection for Rugby World Cup 2015 wherein he played in two matches.

He is the older brother of current Puma Santiago Socino. The brothers played professionally together for the Newcastle Falcons. They will play on opposite teams in the new English Premiership season. Santiago Socino plays hooker for Gloucester.

Juan Pablo Socino joins fellow Buenos Aires players at the Leicester Tigers. The club is home to hooker Julián Montoya and center Matías Moroni. Both players are on Argentina’s roster for the July Internationals against Romania and Wales. In fact, Montoya will captain Los Pumas. The Tigers trio started together for Argentina against Namibia at Leicester in RWC 2015.
