San Diego sends Larsen and Comptat to Seattle, Furno departs

The Seattle Seawolves have acquired second row Victor Comptat and back row Travis Larsen from the San Diego Legion. Both players have arrived in Tukwila and are immediately available to their new club. Terms of the exchange have not been made public.

It’s the fourth Major League Rugby side for both players. Comptat played for Austin in 2018 before switching to Houston the following season. He returned from France to join the Legion in late April but has made only one appearance. The 6’8″ (2.04m) lineout specialist is a USA u20 international and player of interest to Eagles selectors but has yet to make his test debut.

Larsen, 30, was a first No8 for Austin in 2019 and blindside flanker for Old Glory in 2020. He made the switch to San Diego in the off-season and played eight games with only one start. Comfortable across the back row, he is the older brother of Free Jacks captain Josh Larsen and has himself represented Canada at Senior ‘A’ level.

Meanwhile the Legion have also said goodbye to Italy international Joshua Furno. The 31-year-old lock has left the club with immediate effect for undisclosed reasons. Furno has been a regular starter since arriving late in the 2019 campaign.
