Máximo Ledesma departs Olímpia Lions for Italy

Máximo Ledesma will continue his professional career in Italy. The Argentine fly half will join Rugby Lyons Piacenza for the 2021-2022 season, doing so from Paraguay’s Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) entrant the Olímpia Lions.

Ledesma moves to Europe following two seasons of SLAR for the Paraguayan side. He finished the 2021 season as the second highest point scorer. His 108 points were second only to Martín Roger of Peñarol. Ledesma’s 26 penalties were the most by any SLAR player.

The Tucumán fly half will play in the Italian Top 10. Rugby Lyons finished the completed season in 8th position. It did so with Argentines Joaquín Paz and Rómulo Acosta on the roster.

Ledesma is a product of the Natación y Gimnasia club. His move to Italy will be his second professional experience and first outside of South America.
