LA signs Colorado XO pair Shawn Clark and Gelen Robinson

The LA Giltinis have announced the signing of second row Shawn Clark and hooker Gelen Robinson for the remainder of the season. Both players come from the Colorado XO crossover athlete program.

At 6’8″ (2.04m) Clark joins San Diego’s Victor Comptat and New York’s Nick Civetta as the tallest players in Major League Rugby. The 25-year-old was a First Team All-Big South selection as a tight end at Monmouth University and had a tryout with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts prior to joining the XO’s.

Robinson, who turned 26 yesterday, is the son of former NBA player Glenn Robinson. He was a defensive lineman at Purdue University while also competing in discus, shot put, and wrestling. With Mahe Vailanu and Lindsey Stevens currently injured, Robinson will slot straight into LA’s match day 23.

Tighthead prop Ma’ake Muti, initially signed by the Dallas Jackals, was briefly part of the XO’s before signing with the Giltinis. Ex-Austin second row Luca Tani signed for LA in the offseason but joined the Colorado side earlier this year. David Still, another XO athlete, has joined the Gilgronis.
