Santiago Arata adds two years to Castres contract

Santiago Arata has agreed a two-year contract extension with Castres Olympique. Already committed for another year through his initial contract signed last year, the new deal will keep the Uruguayan star at the Top 14 club through the end of the 2023-24 season.

Having established himself as one of the premier scrumhalves in the Americas during the period following Rugby World Cup 2015, Arata has further enhanced his credentials during his first season in France. The 24-year-old has been a regular for Castres making 19 appearances since his October debut.

In the immediate future for Arata is the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers with Los Teros. Uruguay will compete against the winners of Brazil vs Paraguay and Chile vs Colombia for the right to contest the Americas 1 spot against the winner of Canada vs the USA.
