Bautista Delguy has signed for Perpignan on a two-year-deal. The 24-year-old joins the Catalans from Bordeaux following Perpignan’s promotion from the Pro D2 to the Top 14. Delguy signed for Bordeaux in November 2020 as a medical joker. The move was Delguy’s first professional rugby experience outside of Argentina.
In signing for Bordeaux, Delguy joined Pumas teammates Santiago Cordero, and Guido Petti. All three players featured in the 2020 Tri Nations. Delguy started on the right wing in the win over New Zealand and in both drawn matches against Australia. He was a try scorer in the later draw.
Delguy, Cordero and Petti are all former Jaguares. Cordero was a Jaguar in 2016-2017; Petti from 2016-2020 and Delguy from 2018-2020. Perpignan is home to former Jaguares captain Jerónimo de la Fuente. Former Puma Patricio Fernández is also at the club. Both players featured in the Pro D2 final.
Prior to joining Bordeaux, Delguy scored 12 tries in 22 Super Rugby matches for Los Jaguares. He settled in quickly at Bordeaux, scoring two tries in his second match for the club. He has six test tries for Argentina in seventeen caps.
