The Seattle Seawolves have a new Head Coach – again. Allen Clarke will take over the job in a permanent capacity effective immediately. He had previously joined the team on loan from the Dallas Jackals but a financial agreement has now secured his release from the would-be expansion side.
Clarke is the third man to assume the Head Coach position this season. Kees Lensing was hired prior to the 2020 campaign and held the job until mid-April when Director of Rugby Pate Tuilevuka took over in an interim capacity. Joining as a Technical Coach, Clarke was to return to Dallas in 2022.
With the move now permanent, Clarke can focus on re-building the two-time Major League Rugby champions for next season. The Seawolves are currently 2-7 and in last place on the overall table. It remains to be seen if further changes will be made to the staff. Former Ireland captain Rory Best has been acting as a consultant in recent weeks.
A former Ireland hooker himself, the 53-year-old Clarke spent 15 years coaching for Ulster before joining Welsh region Ospreys in 2017. He would leave the Guinness Pro Championship side in November 2019 and joined the Dallas organization in June 2020.
