Sophie de Goede took home Player of the Match honors as Saracens defeated Loughborough Lightning 28-24 in the second Premier 15s Semi Final on Saturday. The win sets up an all-London match-up next Saturday after Harlequins defeated Wasps in the first Semi Final.
Loughborough scored first but Saracens took a two-point lead into halftime. Ten minutes into the second half they scored again and the defense held strong with de Goede contributing two key turnovers at the breakdown. The Lighting would grab a late try to make for a tense finish but would run out of time before they could score again.
de Goede was one of five Canadian internationals playing in the match, including Saracens teammates Emma Taylor and Alysha Corrigan. DaLeaka Menin and Abby Duguid played for Loughborough. Next weekend’s Final will be played at the neutral venue of Kingsholm in Gloucester.
