Juan Ignacio Brex signs Benetton extension

Benetton Rugby have announced contract extensions for midfield pair Luca Morisi and Juan Ignacio Brex. The two Italy internationals will each stay with the Guinness Pro Championship club through at least the 2022-2023 season.

Brex is of interest to Americas fans. The 28-year-old is originally from the San Cirano club in Buenos Aires. After representing the Pumitas u20s, Argentina XV, and Pumas Sevens, he used his Italian heritage to switch allegiance to Italy via the ‘Olympic loophole.’

This past season saw Brex making his test debut for the Azzurri, starting all five games in the Six Nations. He has spent the last six seasons in Italy, first with Viadana before signing with Benetton in 2017.
