World Rugby have confirmed the draws for the upcoming Olympic Repechage qualifying events. Both the Men’s and Women’s tournaments will be held at Stade Louis II in Monaco on the weekend of June 19 and 20. The Rugby Sevens event in Tokyo begins on July 26 for the Men, and July 29 for the Women.
WOMEN’s DRAW
The Women’s tournament features 12 teams in three pools. There are four teams from the Americas – Jamaica and Mexico from the North, with the South represented by Argentina and Colombia.
Two qualification spots are available meaning both sides who reach the Final will book their spot at the Tokyo Games. France and Russia are favorites having finished in 4th and 6th place respectively on the 2019-2020 World Sevens Series.

MEN’s DRAW
Originally intended to have the same number of teams, the Men’s tournament will instead feature only 10 sides with Brazil and China opting out. As such there are only two pools with three Americas teams – Jamaica and Mexico from the North, and Chile as the only team from the South.
Only the winner of the Final will qualify for Tokyo. Ireland and Samoa are core teams in Pool A who finished 10th and 13th respectively in the 2019-2020 season. France are favorites in Pool B and the highest-ranked team overall having finished 6th in the same season.
