Seawolves sign former Western Force flyhalf AJ Alatimu

The Seattle Seawolves have confirmed the addition of Samoa international AJ Alatimu for the remainder of the 2021 Major League Rugby season. He arrives from Australia were he has most recently been playing for GPS in the Queensland Premiership.

Alatimu played with the Perth Spirit and Brisbane City in Australia’s National Rugby Championship before beginning two-year stint with the Western Force in 2018. The 28-year-old from Apia has won six caps for his country, debuting in 2017 and earning selection to the 2019 World Cup squad.

Equally comfortable at inside center, it’s at flyhalf where Alatimu should feature with Seattle. Regular starter Ben Cima will miss several weeks after undergoing ankle surgery. Kieran Joyce, typically a midfielder, has worn the No10 shirt in the past four games.
