Season-ending Achilles injury for Taylor Paris

The Pro D2 season has ended early for Taylor Paris. An Achilles injury suffered while playing for Oyonnax against Grenoble earlier this month will see the Canadian winger out of action for six months. It also rules him out of contention for the World Cup Qualifying series against the USA targeted for September.

Paris has been blighted by injuries in his professional career. He missed out on the 2015 World Cup with a knee injury and then suffered concussion in his only appearance at the 2019 tournament in Japan. Much of his 2017-18 season with Castres was also spent on the sidelines.

In 18 games this season, all starts, Paris scored four tries and drew praise for his defensive contributions. The 28-year-old’s form was rewarded in February with a new contract through the end of the 2022-23 season. Oyonnax remain in contention for promotion to the Top 14 but are currently in 5th place.
