San Diego to play four games at Dignity Health Sports Park

The San Diego Legion aren’t returning to Torero Stadium after all, at least not yet. After announcing a return to California from a temporary relocation in Las Vegas, the team has announced that four home games will in fact be played at Dignity Health Sports Park in Greater Los Angeles.

Saturday’s match against Utah will be the first Major League Rugby game at the 27,000 seat venue though pandemic restrictions mean that no fans will be able to attend. It’s not clear yet if any will be permitted at the subsequent games on May 1 vs New England, May 15 vs NOLA, and May 29 vs Houston.

EDIT: The team have since confirmed that they are not, in fact, playing inside the stadium but on the Track & Field Facility adjacent to the stadium used by the LA Galaxy II soccer team.

A potential return date to Torero Stadium is the June 19 match against the LA Giltinis. In the meantime the team has resumed training at their High Performance facility in Carlsbad.
