SaberCats sign former Wales age grade star Joe Thomas

The Houston SaberCats have confirmed the signing of former Wales u20 star Joe Thomas for the remainder of the 2021 Major League Rugby season. An outside center by trade, he spent the 2019-2020 season on the books of Leicester Tigers in the English Premiership.

Thomas made his professional debut three weeks before his 19th birthday and spent five seasons with Ospreys. He was a two-time selection for the Welsh entry in the Junior World Championship and started all five games in the Wales team that claimed a grand slam in the 2016 u20 Six Nations.

Now 25 years old, the Swansea native is in his athletic prime and should slot straight into Houston’s starting backline. Fijian powerhouse Veramu Dikidikilati has been occupying the No13 shirt but could now shift to the wing to accommodate the arrival of Thomas.
