Argentina beat Canada to win Men’s Final at Dubai 7s

Argentina are the 7’s champions of Dubai. Los Pumas 7’s defeated Canada in the Men’s final earlier today. The result means that Argentina has won back-to-back tournaments in Dubai. The two tournament wins follow two wins in Madrid, Spain and victory in the South American 7’s. In short, Los Pumas 7’s are a team that could compete for medals at the Tokyo Olympics.

Los Pumas 7’s went into Day Two looking for improvement. Argentina lost against France on Day One. First up was a Cup Quarter Final. Argentina were 24-12 winners over Spain. It was followed by a comfortable 40-7 winner of neighbors Chile.

Argentina advanced to face Canada in the final. The Canadians were impressive 29-10 winners over France in their Semi Final. This outcome sent France into the Bronze Final against Chile. It also meant that Argentina would not have France again after Thursday’s defeat.

The standout performer for Los Pumas 7’s in the final was Marcos Moneta. He scored a hat-trick in Argentina’s 26-19 win. The remaining Argentine try was scored by Rodrigo Isgro.
