New York adds local trio to MLR roster

Rugby United New York have added three players to their Major League Rugby roster. Flanker DaQuan Perry joins wingers Sonny Adjei and Aki Raymond in getting the call-up from local clubs.

Perry joins from the White Plains club and is the youngest at 23 years old. Standing just 5’9″ (1.76m) he is short for a forward but his powerful physique and low center of gravity makes him effective in the contact area. Originally from Philadelphia, Perry played collegiate rugby for Kutztown University.

Both Adjei and Raymond are from Old Blue. Adjei, 25, is from Ghana but grew up in Chicago. A High School All-American in XVs, he also represented the USA Falcons at the RugbyTown 7s in 2013. Prior to joining Old Blue, Adjei played for Davenport University and the Chicago Lions.

Raymond is the oldest of the three at 27. He was most recently spotted in a Phoenix jersey at the World Tens Series in Bermuda. Born in Nigeria, Raymond grew up in DC and attended the University of Maryland. In 2012 he was recognized as a High School All-American in 7s.
