Santiago Ruiz and Ignacio Ruiz join Jaguares XV roster in Uruguay

Santiago Ruiz and Ignacio Ruiz have joined Los Jaguares XV in Uruguay. The Ruiz brothers will play for the Argentina Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) franchise for the second half of the season. They were ruled out of travelling to Chile due to testing postitive for COVID-19.

Santaigo and Ignacio Ruiz are products of the Regatas de Bella Vista club. The same club has produced Pumas including current Western Force tight head prop Santiago Medrano, Bordeaux winger Santiago Cordero and his brother Facundo Cordero who plays for the Exeter Chiefs.

Facundo Cordero played SLAR in 2020 for Los Ceibos alongside Santiago Ruiz. The 22-year-old’s regular position is flanker and he has also played at the back of the scrum.

Igacio Ruiz is a front-rower. His regular position is hooker. Ignacio Ruiz scored five tries for the Argentina XV in the 2020 South American A Championship. He was the top try scorer with no other player scoring more than two tries.
