Record Four Argentines start for Australian Super Rugby team

A record will be set in Australia Super Rugby on Friday. Four Argentine players will start for the Western Force against the Melbourne Rebels. The match will see Pumas Tomás Cubelli, Tomás Lezana, Santiago Medrano and Domingo Miotti all starting in Melbourne.

Cubelli has been a regular this season for the Western Force. An Australian favorite following his earlier seasons with the Brumbies, Cubelli will be partnered by Domingo Miotti on Friday. The match will be the first time that Cubelli and Miotti have played together for a non-Argentine team.

Miotti will make his Western Force debut on Friday. His overdue debut comes after he has recovered from minor injury and has secured his playing future in Scotland. He will join the Glasgow Warriors following the mid-year internationals.

The Cubelli and Miotti combination marks the first time wherein an Argentine 9-10 combination will start a Super Rugby match for a team other than Los Jaguares.

The match will feature five Argentine players, all of whom are Pumas. Cubelli, Miotti, Lezana, and Medrano will be up against Lucio Sordoni. The Argentine tight head will be a replacement for the Melbourne Rebels. There is a strong possibility that Medrano and Sordoni will be on the field at the same time for opposing teams.
