New Orleans to host MLR double-header on Saturday

A Major League Rugby double-header will be hosted at The Gold Mine this coming Saturday. NOLA Gold will take on the Austin Gilgronis at 3:30pm local time (1:30pm Pacific, 4:30pm Eastern) but the match will be preceded by a neutral-venue clash between the Toronto Arrows and the LA Giltinis at 12:30pm local time (10:30am Pacific, 1:30pm Eastern).

Though the Arrows are currently based in Marietta, Georgia, due to pandemic restrictions in Canada, the New Orleans match will count as their home opener. It will be the first away match in the regular season for LA. They traveled to Austin to play the Gilgronis during the preseason.

Toronto are currently scheduled to play their second ‘home’ game at Lupo Family Field in Marietta on Saturday, April 17, against the Seattle Seawolves. It’s uncertain at this time when or if the team will be allowed to return to their home base in Canada.
