NOLA Gold have confirmed the signing of winger Hanno Dirksen for the remainder of the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The news comes one day in advance of his 30th birthday.
Dirksen arrives directly from Ospreys in the Guinness Pro Championship, where he has been a prominent member of the squad for over a decade. He signed for the club at an 18-year-old in 2009 and has amassed 154 senior appearances for the Welsh regional side across all competitions.
Originally from Krugersdorp, South Africa, Dirksen emigrated to Nashville, Tennessee, as a teenager and represented the USA at u18 level. His brother Cornelius won two caps for the Eagles in 2012. Despite having permanent resident status in the USA, Dirksen is no longer eligible for the Eagles under World Rugby’s residency regulations and will be considered an import in MLR.
