Peñarol lose lock Juanjuan Garese for four weeks

Peñarol have suffered an injury blow. Lock Juanjuan Garese will depart Chile to return home to Uruguay. Garese started for Peñarol in both of the team’s Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) fixtures thus far.

Garese suffered a dislocated clavicle in Peñarol’s win over Os Cobras on Thursday. He will not require surgery, though he has been ruled out of the three upcoming SLAR rounds in Valaparaiso, Chile. He will also not be ready for the initial rounds in Montevideo, Uruguay. He may be fit to return for Peñarol in their round 9 match against Selknam on April 25.

Peñarol have called up Marcos Chamyan as Garese’s replacement. It is not a direct replacement; Marcos Chamyan’s usual position is flanker. This means that Peñarol now presently has just two specialist second-rowers on the roster: Felipe Aliaga and Nahuel Milan. Lucas Bianchi provides cover from flanker. Felipe Aliaga, and Nahuel Milan will start for Peñarol today against Los Cafeteros Pro.
